Brandee McInnis, RMT
I graduated from the Foothills College of Massage Therapy in Calgary, Alberta in 2003. I practised at a clinic in Calgary, in conjunction with a chiropractor, for about two years. I worked with many different kinds of clients, including athletes, expectant mothers, and business professionals. I provided stress relief and deep tissue massage, and developed maintenance programs specific to each individual.
In 2005, I relocated to Toronto. I have since registered as a massage therapist in Ontario, and I am excited to be continuing on my career path at Yorkville Massage Therapy.
I use many different massage techniques to achieve the desired results, including trigger point therapy, deep tissue release, various forms of hydrotherapy and reflexology. I am a strong advocate of a regular maintenance regime for the body, in much the same way you would maintain your car. If the oil light in your car comes on, you put oil in it - there's no debate. In fact, most of us don't need to be warned by the oil light - we take care of it well in advance. And yet we "drive" our bodies to the point of pain or even dysfunction before we seek "oil" - or rather, treatment. We shouldn't. A proper maintenance regime is specific to you; we will discuss a number of factors in order to develop an optimal treatment plan, be it for treatment or relaxation.
Once tissue is restored to a healthy level - and that can take some time - it is most important to keep it that way. Maintenance is the most effective way to manage physical and mental stress and to achieve a better overall quality of life.
